Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book?

For any yoga events, courses, workshops, hosted classes or blocks you will need to book and pre-pay to reserve your spot. Drop-in classes are run without bookings but due to COVID we implore you to book.

Please arrive 10 mins before the start of any class or course so we can grab some health details from you and get you settled.

Which class is best for a beginner?

We recommend starting with a Gentle Flow class. These are the gentlest and slowest classes on our timetable which leaves plenty of time for instruction and alignment. Some people prefer to start with a more structured course so we run Beginner’s Courses from time to time. Check our Special Events tab to see if one is available.

What kind of yoga do you teach?

Our principal style is Vinyasa (a flowing style of yoga) but we are interested in all types of yoga. Hence, we often host other yoga businesses at our studio to present a diversity of styles and perspectives. Please see the Timetable tab for information on each class.

What are the benefits of practicing yoga?

There are too many to mention but we’ll give it a go! You’ll strengthen, stretch and shape your body but the really interesting stuff happens on the inside… Yoga strengthens the cardiovascular system, expands lung capacity, regulates hormone production, supports the immune, lymphatic, digestive, reproductive and circulatory systems. It gives us a real and tangible tool for coping with stress, mild anxiety and mild depression and as such, eliminates many of the causes of insomnia.

Helping with everything from flat-footedness, to hay fever, to dementia (and so much more!) may seem incredible but all the systems of the body are interconnected and so the well being is multiplied.

Most surprisingly though, yoga asks as much in return as it gives: it asks us to truly look at ourselves and be at ease with what we see; to truly hear ourselves and honour that when we speak; to take command of our thoughts and emotions and put our energy where it is needed. It asks us to hear, see and speak no evil.

How many times a week should I practice?

That depends on your lifestyle, other exercise regimes and what you are looking to get out of your yoga practice. Even practicing once a week will expose you to the myriad of benefits yoga can bring into your life. If you can practice more than that (with us or at home), you’ll experience more benefits. It’s our belief that practicing 3 or 4 times a week can be transformative but if you are a beginner, start slow and build from there. Even 10 mins of mindfulness at home will support your weekly class!

What should I wear?

Think gym wear: either something tight but really stretchy or something loose fitting. If you are wearing a loose fit t-shirt, make sure it’s long enough to tuck in.

I’m not flexible, can I do yoga?

Of course! Yoga will help with that but we emphasise a balance between strength and flexibility. Flexibility is not the be all and end all.
