Naomi Harris, Principal Teacher & Founder
After a brief introduction in her teens, Naomi ‘rediscovered’ yoga in her mid-twenties after experiencing back pain that prevented other forms of sport and exercise. It began as a physical pursuit but, as is the case for many, she found that the joy and peace that came from the class compelled her to learn more. She arrived quite early at the knowledge that she wanted to teach but it took a few years for her confidence to build enough to undertake the challenge.
Naomi loves to teach asana (postures). She emphasises modifications and with over 14 years of teaching experience, weaves these skillfully into each class for the comfort of her students. Her passion is for pairing movement with breath, mindfully building creative Vinyasa flows, be they strong and sweaty or introspective and gentle.
Students can expect to be offered grounding practices and choices within each body position so they may take effective action for themselves. Students are encouraged to explore what makes them feel good, through physical, mental & emotional cues and to apply that knowledge in their daily life.
She really enjoys the focus and meaning that the practice of yoga brings to her daily life, while acknowledging that the physical practices ebb and flow, she always comes back to longing to be connected and present and finds the state of yoga (union) in most things. She continues the quest to be truly content in the present moment, to be intuitive and a student in all things.
Naomi’s classes are therefore a natural expression of this desire; a reminder for all to pause and be still, to allow space for joy to enter.
