- The health benefits of yoga are numerous. You’ll strengthen, stretch and shape your body but the really interesting stuff happens on the inside… Yoga strengthens the cardiovascular system, expands lung capacity, regulates hormone production, supports the immune, lymphatic, digestive, reproductive and circulatory systems. It gives us a real and tangible tool for coping with stress, mild anxiety and mild depression and as such, eliminates many of the causes of insomnia.
Helping with everything from flat-footedness, to hay fever, to dementia (and so much more!) may seem incredible but all the systems of the body are interconnected and so the well being is multiplied.
Most surprisingly though, yoga asks as much in return as it gives: it asks us to truly look at ourselves and be at ease with what we see; to truly hear ourselves and honour that when we speak; to take command of our thoughts and emotions and put our energy where it is needed. It asks us to hear, see and speak no evil.
- At Amrita Yoga, we emphasise the use of breath to create the unity of body, mind and spirit. We aim to create a safe, serene space but don’t take ourselves too seriously.
